What is Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)?
Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is a type of home that is specially designed to cater to the needs of individuals with extreme functional impairment or very high needs. This type of accommodation provides participants with access to the necessary support to help them lead a more comfortable and fulfilling life.
Empress Support Services and an accredited SDA Assessor, who is registered with Livable House Designs (LHA), have come together to offer exceptional support and state-of-the-art SDA. This partnership provides NDIS participants access to specialised accommodation that is tailored to their specific needs.
The SDA offered by Empress Support Services and the accredited SDA Assessor is designed to provide participants with a safe, comfortable, and accessible environment. The accommodation is equipped with the latest technologies and modern amenities to make daily life easier for participants.
The partnership aims to provide participants with the support and assistance they need to lead active and healthy lifestyles. The SDA offers a range of services tailored to participants’ specific needs, including access to healthcare services, social activities, and other support services.
What is Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)?
We comply with all SDA Design Standards and Australian National Construction Code. This ensures that you can safely access high quality, well maintained SDA that meets your needs.
Four basic categories of SDA design are :
- Improved Liveability
◦ A shared home environment for people with sensory, intellectual, or cognitive impairment. - Robust Construction
◦ A home providing high-level physical access for people with significant physical impairment, shared with two other housemates. - Fully Accessible
◦ A self-contained single occupancy villa for people with significant or profound intellectual disabilities to promote independence. - High Physical Support.
◦ A shared home with two housemates, with 24/7 support for people with high complex needs to feel safe and independent.

We provide spacious and clean accommodation in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. It houses state-of-the-art equipment, services, and the resources required for an SDA.

- The accommodation includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room with a fire sprinkler and backup power.
- Ideal location: near medical centres, a shopping mall, and a train station.
- Our facility has 24/7 availability of qualified staff members and a registered nurse for overnight assistance.
- Suitable for Medium-Term Accommodation (Respite – STA), Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA) and Long-Term Accommodation (LTA).
- Assistance with community engagement allows providers to participate in social activities and engage with the community.
